Being the lone Bajan in the Tridents Pride of Barbados’ starting line-up seems to be a blessing for dynamic Dwayne Smith even if it is a curse to his cricketing compatriots.
Crowd-pleaser Smith showcased pride and industry in a scintillating second century of this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 and the fifth of his career at Kensington Oval on Thursday night.
Smith’s unbeaten 103 off 65 balls, studded with five fours and eight sixes, orchestrated an important 29-run triumph for Barbados Tridents over winless St Lucia, despite the efforts of heavyweight all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall.
Cornwall took two wickets with his off-spin in the Tridents’ challenging 195 for four in their 20 overs. (EZS)
