A CONTINGENT OF Barbados Defence Force soldiers is on the way to hurricane-ravaged British Virgin Islands (BVI) as residents of the Leeward Islands prepare themselves for a possible bruising from another hurricane.

And Barbados will continue to experience high seas and dangerous swells as newest Hurricane Jose churns away in the Atlantic.

The tenth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season has become a major system and seems set to take a path similar to that of killer storm Irma through the north-eastern Caribbean.

At 8 p.m. yesterday, it was at Category 3 strength with winds of 120 miles/193 kilometres per hour, moving west northwest at 18 miles per hour. (HLE)
