DELAYED AND CANCELLED flights due to Hurricane Irma have created challenges for some people travelling from Barbados to New York and Antigua.

Barbados was not in the hurricane’s path but was still affected by its fall out.

George Browne, a DJ known as Wooden Foot, went to Notting Hill for Carnival last week, but could not get a flight back home to Antigua. He said if he did not book a ticket to Barbados he would have been still stuck in London.

“JetBlue cancelled the flight because of Irma and I was told they couldn’t get me on a flight home until next Thursday, but I couldn’t wait,” he said. “I wanted to see if everything at home was the same as I left it. So the closest flight was to Barbados and I figured from here I could get a flight home, but when I arrived today (yesterday) LIAT cancelled most of the flights.” (SB)
