THE BARBADOS RED CROSS will be launching its Irma and Jose appeal this week.

Yesterday, director general Edmond Bradshaw revealed the local chapter would be supporting the International Federation of the Red Cross which launched an initial appeal for the equivalent of 1.1 million Swiss francs (BDS$2.3m) for Barbuda and Antigua. The appeal figure will be adjusted upwards following full field assessments.

Donations can be made to local commercial banks.

The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross has reported that there were adequate amounts of food and general supplies already assigned for the victims, but what was urgently required was financial assistance to help residents rebuild their homes. (PR/HLE)
