Bible a reliable source

When it comes to the origin of life there are only two possibilities: creation or spontaneous generation. There is no third way . . . . – (George Wald, 1954, The Origin Of Life, Scientific American, 191 [2]: 48).

VOB’s Down To Brass Tacks call-in programme host Mr Peter Wickham constantly makes it known to the public via the said radio programme that he does not believe in God or the Bible while not openly stating what he actually does believe in.

Nevertheless, as Nobel Prize winning biologist, evolutionist and atheist the late Dr George Wald stated (as cited above), if one does not believe in creation, as the Bible teaches, the only alternative is to believe in abiogenesis, i.e. the accidental evolution of life or living organisms from inorganic or inanimate substances.

In light of this fact we can deduce that most likely, Mr Wickham as a professed atheist (perhaps like all other atheists) believes in Darwinian evolution.

If that is the case, his continual attack upon the Bible becomes unwarranted because if there is no God, we are all just the unintentional end result of blind chance “dog-eat-dog” survival of the fittest evolutionary processes. Therefore, the ancient Near Eastern life styles portrayed in the Bible (which Mr Wickham has problems with, stating that they were sexist, bigoted and cruel and so on) are simply an outgrowth of the same mindless “dog-eat-dog” survival-of-the-fittest evolutionary processes, so why complain about it?

It’s all just evolution at work. In fact, why complain about and fight against any of the “ills” in society? They are all likewise just natural outgrowths of evolution which knows nothing such as right and wrong.

For example, sexism, stealing, infanticide and genocide (just to name a few) are very common in the animal kingdom and there is nothing wrong about these actions among animals, to which we are said to be closely related in the grand evolutionary scheme of things.

Right and wrong

If evolution is true, then ideas of right and wrong are simply subjective human mental constructs without any basis in objective reality just like what atheists say about the notion of God, so we should all just live and let live.

In reality, though, it is belief in evolution (the bedrock of atheism) which proves to be an unscientific and bankrupt philosophy which ruins intellectually those who adhere to it simply because they refuse to believe in the obvious and inescapable scientific truth of supernatural creation.

Dr Wald admitted: “Spontaneous generation was scientifically disproved 100 years ago by Louis Pasteur, Spellanzani, Reddy, and others. That leads us scientifically to only one possible conclusion – that life arose as a supernatural creative act of God . . . I will not accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God. Therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution” (George Wald, “Innovation And Biology,” Scientific American: 199,9/1958, p100.)

Mr Wickham needs to be reminded of the old adage “people who live in glass houses should not throw stones”. As it stands, his glass house of atheism is shattered from its very foundation of fallacious Darwinian evolution.

The Bible, on the other hand, stands firm and secure; its doctrine of supernatural creation by God (the only one possible conclusion explaining our existence) vindicated and confirmed by the scientific evidence, even though Mr Wickham and other atheists don’t want to admit it.

My fellow Barbadians, while Mr Wickham chooses to believe in the myth of atheism, be assured that the Bible is reliable and you can trust it!
