RISING STARS NOT only lived up to their name by shining brightly but also turned their opponents’ dream into a nightmare at the Barbados Community College on Saturday night.

Rasheed Maynard swished the nets for a game-high 13 points as the Pinelands-based Rising Stars trounced Dream Chasers 21-13 in a one-sided final to win the inaugural E-Z Pave/KFC Under-23 Summer Jam 3×3 Basketball Tournament.

Maynard, who won the Most Valuable Player award in the recent Summer Jam Under-17 Tournament when his Pinelands outfit triumphed, showed he is also a force to be reckoned with among the older basketballers.

The son of the late former Pinelands and Barbados player, Ryan “Sam” Maynard, got excellent support from Kiserian Adams, who nailed seven points. Deroni Hurley and Rachad Hall also played their part in Rising Stars’ victory. (EZS)
