25 Bajans for Carifta Triathlon meet

HOST COUNTRY BARBADOS will be represented by a 25-member squad for the first CARIFTA Triathlon Championships set for October 7 and 8 at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

Barbados will be joined by participants from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Grenada, Aruba, Guadeloupe, St Maarten, United States Virgin Islands, Bahamas and Martinique.

Ninety-five athletes are down to compete in the triathlon event while 64 will compete in the aquathlon events.

The triathlon comprises a 200-metre swim, 7.5-km bike ride and 1.5-km run for the 11- to 12-year-olds; a 400-metre swim, 10-km bike ride and 2.5-km run for the 13 to 15-year-olds; and a 750-metre swim, 20-km bike ride and 5-km run for the 16- to 19-year-olds. (RG/PR)
