Bajan cricketer: It was terrifying

On a hill in Goodwill, Dominica, Kyle Mayers bunkered down in his rented two-storey apartment, and kept the faith.

The Barbadian cricketer had arrived in the “Nature Isle” only last week with roommate Roland Cato of Grenada, to step up preparation for this year’s regional four-day tournament. Both men are set to play for the Windward Islands in the professional tourney.

Mayers said he had definitely started thinking what lay in his future after Maria’s winds picked up, and everything outside started to sound like thunder rolling.

“I was definitely scared. It was terrifying,” he told the WEEKEND NATION. (BA)
