Barbadian Zane Maloney is the fifth fastest karter in the world.

The 13-year-old Barbadian driver had to settle for fifth place in the CIK-FIA World OK & OK Junior Championships at the PF International Circuit, Lincolnshire last Sunday after being struck by another karter on the third lap and was pushed down to 12th place in the race.

“I was very upset by the incident as I was leading the race and feeling comfortable, but I was ‘T-Boned’ by another karter who had overshot the curve and it pushed me down to 12th place. I had to fight my way back up the field and eventually finished fifth,”, Maloney told NATIONSPORT.

The former karting champion driver noted while he is the stronger for it, he would have felt much better had the incident not happened and denied him the top spot. (TT)
