KINGSTON – Members of the police force have been warned to be on high alert following an incident late Tuesday in which a female cop and her two daughters were shot by gunmen at their home in the central parish of St Catherine.

The warning was issued by the Police Federation that represents the rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The police report that the cop – an Inspector assigned to the motorised patrol division was at home, shortly after 8 p.m. (local time) when masked men entered the hope and opened fire, which was returned.

The Inspector was shot in the hand, one of her daughters – who is a District Constable was shot in the leg and the other daughter was shot in the buttocks.

They were rushed to hospital where they were admitted.

However, their injuries are not considered life threatening.

Following investigations, the police report that one gunman was found closely with gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at hospital

The police believe the shooting was in retaliation for an incident earlier this week in which an alleged gunman was killed in the parish. (CMC)
