Wren Ramsey is on a mission to lift the standard of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Football League.

The newly appointed president said people often compared the league to that of other islands and it was time its staging effectively represented the true quality of the sport on the island.

“Every time people open their mouths to talk you hear about the school league in Jamaica, the school league in Trinidad so it’s time that we get the school league in Barbados up to par and maybe take Barbados above some of these other leagues – not to downplay what the other leagues are doing but I think the level of football in Barbados is just as good or better, so I am really looking to get the schools league going forward and progressing,” he said.

Speaking during last Friday’s opening ceremony for the new season at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, Ramsey pointed out that his preparation for the position began when he was thrust into the position of secretary which he said provided him with the experience and support he needed to do the job.  (RG)
