Utility companies which dig up freshly paved roads will be in for “serious penalties” as a new Street Works Act moves closer to fruition.
Word of this from Minister of Transport Michael Lashley, who said that piece of legislation and a new Road Traffic Act were being readied for Parliament.
Lashley was speaking at a meeting of the Democratic Labour Party’s St Michel South East constituency, where candidate Rodney Grant also addressed those gathered at Parkinson Memorial School.
“We want to bring legislation to Parliament because we recognise when the Ministry of Transport goes and builds a road, the Water Authority coming, the electric company coming, all the utilities coming and digging up the road.” (HLE)
