Twenty thousand Barbadians walked for a cure yesterday.
They donned their pink shirts and participated in the Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme Walk For The Cure for breast cancer to raise funds for the programme.
Medical coordinator Dr Shirley Jhagroo said the objective this year was to get a linear accelerator to provide women with a better option to the cobalt radiotherapy being used at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
She added that even though the cost was high, in the millions of dollars, with the help from corporate Barbados and donations from Barbadians, the money could be raised. (LK)
