The clash between Trinity Clarke and Shontae Alleyne-Clarke for the Richard Stoute Teen Talent (Juniors) title was a battle for the ages.
It may be hard for those who weren’t in attendance at the Divi Southwinds Resort, St Lawrence, Christ Church, last Sunday night to truly appreciate the quality of the two contestants, so picture the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy final when the West Indies matched England.
In that final England scored a meagre 217 runs and when it was the West Indies turn to bat they struggled. With batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s wicket gone and the number 9 and 10 batsmen, Ian Bradshaw and Courtney Browne, at the crease, England were all but crowned champion.
However, together Browne and Bradshaw took the responsibility of a win onto their shoulders and successfully chiselled away at England’s total.
In the case of the juniors, just as the West Indies did, Trinity pulled out an extraordinary final performance to narrowly beat Shontae by two points. (SDB Media)
