The king of swing is back to competing for titles.

Twelve months after reaching his last final Darian King has advanced to the championship match of the ATP Stockton Challenger after defeating Tim Smyczek in straight sets during yesterday’s semi-finals in California.

Facing the former world no. 68 on stadium court, King rattled off eight straight games at one point before staving off a late rally to win 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 15 minutes.

The result put the 25-year-old Bajan ace in his first ATP Challenger final since he won last year’s Wells Fargo Bank Tiburon Tennis Tournament in the same American state. (JM)
