Man facing drug charges

Members of the Suppressing Criminal Activity Targeting Society, (SCATS) Unit have arrested and charged Dwayne Anderson Gibson, 36, of Harlington St Philip, for drug related offences committed sometime around 7:20 a.m., this morning, while at Pine Commercial Estate, Pine, St Michael.

Gibson was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of apparatus.

As a result of information received, members of the SCATS Unit went to the area of the Pine Commercial Estate; near the Barbados water Authority Headquarters this morning. On arrival, several employees of the Water Authority including Gibson who is also an employee, were present. Investigations were conducted and during a search, the cannabis and apparatus was discovered in a car owned by Gibson. 

Gibson was arrested and subsequently charged for the offences. Gibson appeared before Magistrate Douglas Fredericks in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court today.

He pleaded guilty to the offence of unlawful possession of apparatus and was fined $350 to be paid in one week, or face one month in prison.

He pleaded not guilty to the unlawful possession of cannabis and was granted bail, with one surety, in the sum of $2 500. He will reappear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on March 18, 2018. (PR)
