Jogger dies in traffic accident on Highway 2A

An early morning jog turned fatal for a woman in her 50s following a traffic accident early this morning along the Ronald Mapp Highway (more commonly known as Highway 2A).

Police are conducting investigations into the road fatality which occurred sometime around 5:40 am on Saturday October 21st, along the Arch Hall section of the Ronald Mapp Highway in the area of the Lawrence Johnson roundabout. 

The accident involved a motor vehicle driven by 27 year old Daniel Haynes of Jackmans, St Michael and two female pedestrians in their mid fifties which resulted in the death of June Sonia Knight of Grazettes New Road, St Michael. Yolande Alleyne of Clear View, St James.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the women were part of a group of persons jogging along the shoulder of the highway when they were struck by the car. Both women sustained head injuries and were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. Knight subsequently succumbed to her injuries. Alleyne is listed as stable.
