Local karting champion Christian Hinds will be the first Barbadian driver at a Formula 1 event when he faces the starter in the F4 NACAM race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Race Circuit in Mexico this week.
And the Barbados Karting Association’s (BKA) defending champion driver, now attached to the Scuderia Martiga EG team owned by Formula 1 and Indy Car driver Esteban Gutierrez, completed two days of testing this week at the Puebla Circuit and is ready for the weekend’s action.
Hinds said he would be flying the Barbados flag and plans to give of his best at the Mexico race meet this weekend.
“I have been training since January with my coach Andrew Callender, five days a week, and he has adjusted my programme in preparation for the event. I am physically ready for the busy week ahead, having completed a successful test in April at the Sonoma Raceway in a faster Formula 3 in wet and tricky conditions. I am humbly confident of a good performance in Mexico,” Hinds told WEEKEND SPORT. (TT)
