Sexual harassment bill ‘too rushed’

While many interest groups and individuals have been praising the new sexual harassment law, trade unionist Caswell Franklyn has slammed the bill as a rush job.

The Employment Sexual Harassment (Prevention) Bill 2017 was passed in the House of Assembly last Friday.

The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) lauded the bill and the Minister of Labour, Senator Dr Esther Byer Suckoo, in a press release issued yesterday.

However, Franklyn highlighted some issues he had with its contents.

“This is a poor piece of legislation. The idea is good, but it seems as though it has been rushed and they have made several stupid errors in it,” Franklyn said.  (AD)
