THE BELOW-PAR performance of the Barbados Pride wasn’t up to the standard you expect for regional first-class cricket.
While opposing coach Winston Benjamin is elated with the Leeward Islands Hurricanes’ two-day trouncing of Barbados’ Pride after many years of losing, he isn’t happy with the lack of fight shown by the traditionally-strong home side.
Even with Barbados Pride missing eight of their first-choice players because of West Indies’ duties, Benjamin said he expected a sterner test for the Hurricanes, who are also missing at least four key players.
“The competitive Barbados that I am accustomed to didn’t show up in this match,” Benjamin told WEEKENDSPORT after the match, while the beaten Barbados Pride side gathered inside the Garfield Sobers Pavilion for a lengthy post-match team meeting. (EZS)
