Defending champions Guyana Jaguars completed their second successive victory by defeating Windward Islands Volcanoes inside three days in the Digicel Professional League Regional 4-Day Championship yesterday.

After taking a commanding first innings lead of 206 on the second day at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia, the Jaguars pressed home the advantage by dismissing the hosts for 244 in their second innings after resuming on 54 for one.

Barbadian Kirk Edwards hit the topscore of 54, while Kavem Hodge contributed 44.

The Volcanoes were undermined primarily by left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, who took four for 53, and pacer Keon Joseph, three for 53.

The victory allowed Guyana Jaguars to maintain their 100 per cent winning record following their 263-run triumph over Jamaica Scorpions in the first round.

Over at the Brian Lara Academy in Trinidad, rookie Tion Webster made 178 and Yannic Cariah 127 as Trinidad and Tobago Red Force made 380 for seven declared in response to Jamaica Scorpions’ 431 that was dominated by Fabian Allen’s 160 and Brandon King’s 98. (HG)
