Recovery plan ‘not ready’ for IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will hit the ground here in a fortnight, but the special team for another Article IV consultation won’t get a pitch on a new version of the Barbados Sustainable Recovery Plan.

That’s because the plan isn’t ready for perusal by the IMF. According to a high-ranking Government source, no such presentation is planned until Cabinet approves.

“The Government is not presenting that to the IMF when the team comes,” said the source, who requested anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on Government’s behalf.

Last week, in a DAILY NATION article, it was suggested the IMF team would be presented with a new draft of the Plan after it had been reviewed and discussed by the Social Partnership. (BA)
