He is losing big-time at Reduce Quarry, but waste recycler Anderson Cherry says he will keep his word and close the controversial Lower Estate, St George, facility by April next year.
Nearby residents have been complaining and held a major town hall meeting recently about adverse effects from a toxic scent and smoke emanating from the quarry.
Cherry did not disclose exactly how much money he was out, but said it was “hundreds of thousands of dollars”, per month.
“I have been subsidising this for the last two years. I’m not making any money on this neither. So the whole operation to get Project Recycle started is costing me a lot of money. I’m losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it will be worth it for all Barbadians at the end,” he explained at the site yesterday. (YB)
