Scarcity of competent job seekers

I have to face the reality and stop agonising about the scarcity, nay more pointedly, the non-existence of locally trained and competent job seekers.

It is either the unemployment statistics are flawed to the extent that there is full employment, the training and educational institutions are not training and teaching what is relevant and necessary or there is a novel way to live without having to earn a salary or wage from honest labour.

Again, on November 10, 2017, the print media carried an advertisement of an establishment having received no suitable application to fill the position of Head Chef is seeking the permission of the Chief Immigration to grant a work permit for a non-national.

Are there no longer private employment agencies offering their services?

Is there not a national employment bureau within the Ministry of Labour?

What is the function, the remit and the mission of these entities?

Is Barbados being impacted so negatively by a “brain drain”?
