Belle: St John needs a rising star

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) needs to invest in a “good politician” to run in St John in the next election, says political scientist George Belle.

Not only did he set out the criteria for the potential candidates who should be looked at to represent that parish, but he also put two names on the table.

He named Leroy McClean, a former assistant of the late Prime Minister and MP for the area, Errol Barrow, and Senator Verla De Peiza as those who should be eyed for St John.

Belle’s comments were made in light of the recent announcement that MP for the constituency Mara Thompson would not be running in the next election. (CM)
