BIM’S BEST: Chicken Finalists give their best

If you give of your best then good will return to you. If you’re not sure, then take a quick glance at our finalists in the Best Chicken category of Bim’s Best.

Each of the five finalists has been nominated in multiple categories by satisfied customers who sang their praises for both their delicious food and their warm and friendly service.

One customer of Sandra Wilkinson of Smiles Cook Shop spoke highly of “always getting service with a smile at her food shop” while one of Diandra Lowe’s customers praised the young entrepreneur as being “passionate about providing timely, exceptional catering services.

Sally Egan & Marc Egan /Marco Polo Bar and Grill

Years in food business: 3.5 (Sally) 8 (Marc – was a cook in the UK many moons ago)

How do you feel about being nominated for Bim’s Best?

Sally: I feel really excited and proud!

Marc: Like Sally proud that our cooking technique is being noticed and the use of great local fresh produce is paying off.

What do you love the most about what you do?

Sally: I love showcasing local produce [and] supporting the local economy.

Marc: Making people happy – we have a small place that is simple and comfortable, making you feel at home…our guests become friends.

 

Rictoria Forde/ Sea Ya Beach Bar, Dover

Age: 27

Years in food business: 10 years

How do you feel about being nominated for Bim’s Best? Great! Excited but still shocked that someone [could] choose me.

What do you love the most about what you do? I just like that I can put a smile on somebody’s face and actually serve people. I learned to cook growing up doing work around the temple [as] I’m a Spiritual Baptist and we have the Cou-cou village so all of my training comes from there.

 

Diandra Lowe/ DD’s Catering

Age: 25 years old

Years in food business: 5 years, 1.5 years

How do you feel about being nominated for Bim’s Best?  Amazing. It’s amazing. Wow!

What do you love the most about what you do? I just love to showcase my talent. I love to make people happy. People love to eat and once they are happy qith the food they are happy. Bajan cuisine is my speciality.

 

Angela Goring / Ryanne’s Restaurant

Years in the food business:  about 28 years – I started in banking then switched to hospitality.

How do you feel about being nominated for Bim’s Best?  I’m excited actually. I’ve never been nominated for anything like this before so I want to see where it can take me.

What do you love the most about what you do? There is so much I love about what I do. I love everything. I love being able to interact with people that come in here. I love making sure they have a really great dining experience, love to see the smiles and when they tell you ‘oh that was delicious’. That keeps me going when I see my customers are happy because of the food we provide for them and the service.
