Fresh concerns about dumping at Reduce Quarry

Residents of Lower Estate, St George, and the environs of Anderson Cherry’s Reduce Quarry are taking issue with some developments there.

This comes just six weeks after Cherry promised to clear out the landfill and process only inert materials between October 2 and April next year, when he has agreed to close the quarry.

Roger Craigg, who sits on the 15-member monitoring committee set up by residents, told the Sunday Sun he visited the quarry on Thursday with another committee member, Ian Proverbs, and they found household waste.

“There was some fresh dumping. There was a piece of sponge, like an old bed; domestic garbage. In fact, I even saw a chicken thigh in it. I zoomed in on that one,” Craigg said, adding that he had video of the fresh garbage. (YB)
