Twenty-two-year-old Nayib Straker was granted bail when he appeared in court today in connection with the death of 78-year-old Bentley DeCoursey Belgrave.
Belgrave died on November 4 along Pleasant Hall Road, St Peter, after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was involved in a collision with a car driven by Straker.
Belgrave, a Barbadian who resided in the United States, was on a visit to the island.
Straker, of Doughlin Village, St Andrew, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention and driving without reasonable consideration for others using the road.
He appeared before Magistrate Wanda Blair in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court and was granted bail in the sum of $8 000with one surety.
He will reappear in court on May 15, 2018. (PR/NB)
