JESHUA FERDINAND has now found himself with a new dilemma – paying off his medical bills in England.
Though he continues to recover after being struck down suddenly with the paralysing Guillain-Barre syndrome in May, he now has this new headache to deal with and the possibility of legal proceedings against him.
The 24-year-old Barbadian cricketer was playing on the professional scene with the English Mayfield Cricket Club in the Sussex Premier League in April, when he caught the rare autoimmune disease, which rendered him unable to move his legs and with limited movement in one hand two weeks after his arrival.
Speaking to WEEKENDSPORT from their Wotton, Christ Church home Ferdinand’s mother, Merlyne Moore, said while she was happy to have her baby boy safe at home, they hadn’t figured out how they were going to pay his medical bills which stand at approximately £40 000 (BDS$106 000).
Ferdinand has since received three letters from the medical institution requesting the outstanding payment. (RA)
