Actions spoke louder than words yesterday as the Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM) staged a silent protest against Gender Based Violence.
Armed with placards in hand and standing along the Black Rock main road, several young people sent their message without saying a single word.
YAM president Nathan Brewster said the advocacy group held a one-hour silent protest to mark the beginning of the internationally recognised 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.
Yesterday also marked International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Brewster said YAM, which was the youth arm of the Barbados Family Planning Association (BFPA), had a mission to empower young people through education and counselling about sexual and reproductive health rights and issues. (AD)
