MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones has sent a stern warning to students who commit violent acts and create havoc in schools.
Speaking at a ceremony for the renaming of the former Ellerslie Secondary School to The Ellerslie School and the official launch of the school’s sixth form this morning, Jones said that small pocket of students who commit violent acts has to be plucked out “sooner rather than later”.
Last week a 16-year-old student from Ellerslie suffered lacerations to an arm and had one finger severed and another partially severed in a cutlass attack by another student.
The minister said those kinds of students will not be allowed to disrupt the others. (YB)
