Duguid: Sewage in south too long

Thanks for your efforts, but it has taken way too long.

That was the response of Barbados Labour Party Christ Church West candidate Dr William Duguid to the efforts of Barbados Water Authority (BWA) and other Government agencies to fix the ongoing problems at the South Coast Sewage Project.

He was speaking at Almond Bay Caterers during his annual Christmas luncheon over the weekend, a venue just metres away from one of the manholes where water filled with sewage flowed onto the streets.

“It was 12 months ago at this same location that we were talking about this major event that we have here on the South Coast not too far from here. So it’s ridiculous that it has taken this long for the Water Authority and the authorities to give significant impetus to getting this matter fixed. But I am happy to see at least it’s finally being done,” he said.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the way the Freundel Stuart administration had responded to such issues. (TG)
