St Michael South Central crushed St Thomas 6-1 to register the biggest victory on the second day of the National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Community Under-17 Football Tournament on Sunday.
Playing in the second game of a double header at Passage Road, St Thomas took the lead in the first minute through Zinedine Shepherd, but could not withstand the onslaught from St Thomas that followed as a beaver-trick from Donte Greenidge highlighted the proceedings.
Greenidge equalised eight minutes after the opening before Kemar Moore gave St Michael Central the lead in the 13th minute. There were further strikes from Greenidge in the 26th, 42nd and 48th minutes, while Jevon Ramsey also netted in the 40th minute.
In the first game at the same venue, St Michael East defeated hosts City of Bridgetown 3-1 thanks to first half goals from Demar Maloney, Jamario Nicholls and Jared Maxius. Kobe Shepherd scored a consolation goal for the City.
Over at Brereton, St Philip West were comfortable 4-1 winners against St Joseph.
A brace from Saviola Thomas and strikes from Raheem Taitt-Best and Tarique Bailey set up St Philip West’s win with Issac Clarke providing the lone goal for St Joseph.
An all-St Philip affair between St Philip North and St Philip South produced a 1-1 draw. Larell Alleyne netted for St Philip North, while Tyrese Crawford was the goal scorer for St Philip South.
In the lone match at Gall Hill, home team St John and St George North played to a 2-2 draw, while at Speightstown, a double from Che Jordan set up St Andrew’s 2-0 victory against St James South. (HG)
