Colin Bradshaw is the 2017 Barbados Karting Association (BKA), SDRR Motor port/Chefette champion driver.
The son of James Bradshaw, also a kart driver, made off with three titles during the just concluded BKA championship after amassing a total of 600 points. He also took along Easy Kart (EK) 60cc Cadet title as well as the title for the driver returning the highest total of fastest lap times.
Adam Mallalieu, who ended the season with 546 points and also took the Most Improved Driver award, held on to take second place and the title for the Easy Kart 100cc Juniors, while Joshua Maloney took the Easy Kart 125cc title and was third overall.
Kayleigh Catwell won the Motoring News trophy for the highest placed female competitor, while last year’s champion driver Christain Hinds was the repeat champion in the X30 class with 359 points ahead of Theo Howard, who ended the season with 313 points, and third-placed Calvin Bartlett, who had 171.
Delivering the feature address at the recently-held annual awards ceremony in the Bushy Park clubhouse, BKA chairman Norman Catwell said next year should be interesting as Adam Mallalieu and Graham Bradshaw will be moving up to the 125cc light class and competition should be keener.
“These two drivers are hot and should make the competition for Joshua Maloney, Benjamin Moore and Sasha Soodeen and should make the new season very exciting,” the BKA chairman noted.
He further said drivers such as Arden Bruce, Jacob Mustor, Donche Blackman and Daniel Ullyett will be the ones to watch in next year’s SDRR Motor Sport/Chefette Championship and picking a winner will not be easy.
“Our 100cc class was all about speed this year and all the drivers exhibited behaviours of being future champion drivers as they are improving with every race day in which they compete”, Catwell noted.
Ullyett, who ended the season second 501 points and second place in the EK 60cc Cadet and Calem Maloney 467 points, who won the EK 100cc Junior and fifth overall as female driver Kayleigh Catwell, completed the top six places overall.
Mark Thompson drove away with the Easykart 125cc Masters title, while another former BKA champion driver, Nick Gill, and Maurice Fortier filled the lesser places in the group. (TT)
