Plea to treat all warders equally

On the heels of one of their own being charged by police, a member of the Prison Officers Association is calling for the rules to be applied fairly across the board.

The prison officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the MIDWEEK NATION some of their peers had done more than just “carry corn curls” to prisoners and all should be dealt with in the same vein.

Melvin MacDonald Goodman, 47, of Bathsheba, St Joseph, and Todds Land, St George, was charged recently with unlawfully conveying prohibited articles into Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds.

He appeared in the District “C” Magistrates’ Court on December 20 and pleaded not guilty to carrying food items for an inmate. He was released on $500 bail with a surety and is to return to court on February 26. (SAT)
