No finals, no reasons

THE SEVENTH EDITION of the National Sports Council’s (NSC) Inter-Parish Road Tennis Finals has been postponed and nobody is saying why.

An announcement was made on Wednesday night that the battles previously slated for today and tomorrow at the Christ Church Foundation School’s Hall were being postponed.

NSC deputy director of sports Neil Murrell, while confirming the 11th hour announcement, would only say that “unforeseen circumstances” had caused the postponement of the event.

Ironically, most of the logistics had been covered following a lengthy meeting on Wednesday, with the court being completed and the broadcast bus being put in place along with commenced laying of broadcast cables. Frantic calls had to be made to the various vendors and sponsors who would have been finalising arrangements for the two days of tennis action.

While everyone contacted by WEEKENDSPORT remained tight-lipped as to the reason for the postponement, a number of challenges were identified in attempting to stage the finals at Foundation. (KB)
