Hundreds of passengers on board a JetBlue flight breathed sighs of relief after a Barbados-bound flight from Logan Boston International Airport made an emergency landing at Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday afternoon.

The landing occurred just after 3 p.m., with members of the Barbados Fire Service, as well as other emergency officials, on standby in case of an incident. However, the plane touched down safely.

Officials quickly boarded and began checking out reports of a pungent smell.

But despite there being an initial delay of the flight from the busy United States city, there was no mass hysteria onboard.

One of the passengers, Sheldon Farnum, told the DAILY NATION they were informed about the smell moments before they landed.

“I think everyone was kind of [anxious] because our flight was already delayed out of Boston. So by the time we got here I think everyone was excited to get off the plane,” he said. (TG)
