High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Chargé d’Affaires, Ambassadors, Honorary Consuls and Consuls General, Permanent Secretaries and other guests celebrated the Christmas holidays at the annual reception hosted by the Consular Corps.
Honorary Consul for Denmark, Britta Pollard graciously provided the hospitality at Southern Palms Hotel where carollers La Joie Music Ministries added that special Yuletide touch.
The Consular Corps was established 23 years ago and there are now 25 countries with Honorary Consuls in Barbados. Hon Consul for Israel Bennie Gilbert and Hon Consul for Ecuador Hallam Edwards, the two longest holders of a consular position, were there, as well as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Barbados, New Zealand High Commissioner Jan Henderson.
It was Henderson’s last Christmas of her four-year tour of duty in Barbados and she commended the Consular Corps of Barbados for the work they were doing, while encouraging even closer links between them and the Diplomatic Corps.
Her sentiments were echoed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Maxine McClean who praised the diplomats and consular representatives for their contribution to fostering good relations between Barbados and the countries they represent. (GC)
