Members of the Barbados Equestrian Association continue their climb in the hopes of qualifying for this year’s FEI World Dressage Challenge, and the forthcoming Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Colombia in July.

Riding high in the World Of Dressage last year was Roberta Foster and Chichic as they secured a victory in the 2017 FEI World Dressage Challenge.

The veteran Foster has in the past won the FEI Challenge, but last year captured gold in the highest ranked test with a high score of 69.539 per cent for the Intermediate 1 (I1), over Carlos Fernandez of Chile.

With 41 international competitors from across the globe riding the I1, little Barbados from Zone 10 made the splash and took the overall win. The FEI WDC competition runs year round, and is divided into ten zones. Each zone has between four and ten countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Foster and Chichic have their work cut out for them, and will work through their qualifiers locally in preparation for this year’s CAC Games.

Young Zoe Archer, and her long-standing partner Millridge Z have received their certificate of capability for eventing, while training in the USA over Concours de Saut International (CSI*) courses.

Zoe returns to the international stage next month to continue her development, and will continue to work through the eventing qualifiers as a CAC Games hopeful, where her mother, Monique Archer, and teammate Laura Smith will join her. (RA)
