Seventeen injured in Spooners Hill accident

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a three-vehicular accident, involving two route taxis, and a truck, which occurred around 1:15 p.m. today, along Spooners Hill, St Michael. It resulted in 17 people being injured, and a mass casualty response being activated.

The first route taxi was being driven by O’neal Adams, 47, of Shop Hill, St Thomas, while the second route taxi was being driven by Shawn Layne, 31, of Bridgefield, St Thomas, and the truck by Keyon Questelles, 30, of Codrington Hill, St Michael.

A total of 17 people, including the three drivers, were injured as a result of the collision. Five people out of the 17 were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance, complaining of back and neck pains, and the remaining 12 people were treated and discharged at the scene. 

The mass casualty response included two fire tenders, and seven fire officers under the command of Divisional Officer Mervin Mayers.

Six ambulances, three doctors, four nurses, and two orderlies from the QEH, under the command of Acting Medical Director Dr Oredeian, responded to the scene. (PR)
