Cruise push

Government is preparing to take over full management of the privately-owned Bridgetown Cruise Terminals Inc.

But the Barbados Port Inc. may have a legal fight on its hands with the group which has been operating the terminal for 24 years.

The Sunday Sun was reliably informed that officials at the Barbados Port Inc., have written the private sector group which has been co-managing the terminal, to inform them their contract would not be renewed.

The terminal is operated by a joint venture including the Barbados Port Inc., but the private sector group controls the majority shares.

When contacted, David Jean-Marie, chief executive officer of the BPI confirmed the development. (MB)
