DON’T BE FOOLED by the Dems again but vote them out of office!

That was the rallying cry from St Michael South East Member of Parliament Santia Bradshaw, at a Barbados Labour Party (BLP) meeting at the Israel Lovell Foundation, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, on Sunday evening.

Referring to former prime minister Errol Barrow’s famous Mirror Image speech in 1986, Bradshaw said when Barbadians looked into their mirrors today, all they saw was suffering in the country.

“They are not seeing an educational system that is on par with the rest of the world. You have children coming out of school who have no hope for the future. They went to school, spent from four years to 16 in school and in some cases they are put out of school without any certification and cannot find a job,” she said.

The attorney contended whether the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) called elections next month or in June, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley was ready to lead. She called on those present to get on the battlefield with the BLP whenever elections were called because they had heard the cries of the people during the Rubbing Shoulders programme.

“My message is clear tonight. Elections are around the corner and we have suffered under this administration over the past few years in a way that Barbadians have never seen before.

However, I am empowered by the fact that we have a team that can bring back Barbados from the brink. The one thing our leader tells us: do not promise anything. Tell the people you will try the best that you can do. The days of giving false hope to people are over. This is not the time for making promises and spouting policies that become unrealistic.”

Bradshaw charged that the DLP had fooled people living in Government housing units that they would have title deeds after living in them for over 20 years, but it never materialised.

She warned against believing a smoke and mirrors campaign.

“If their campaign is only going to be mounted on the basis of personal allegations and not on the basis of what it is that they have done, then you know and I know what on election day the electorate should do to them – vote them out!” (NC)
