Two overgrown lots on opposite sides of the road at Fairfield Road, Carrington Village, St Michael, are proving to be a bother to residents.

Both lots are so full of bush, that the grass is starting to hang over on the busy street.

But what has one resident upset are the rodents and mosquitoes.

The man, who requested anonymity, said he usually saw rodents running in and out of the bush and he was fearful they might soon invade his house. He also complained that one of the lots had a large tree growing on it which he believed needed to be cut down.

So concerned was he about the state of the lots that the man said he spent a long time trying to find out who the owners were, only to discover that the two lots belonged to the same person.

“I found out that a woman named Miss Babb owned the two properties. I got a number for her and I phoned her just before Christmas.

“She told me that she would get them cleared after the holidays because people does charge too much for cutting the grass around Christmas.”

Pointing out that he also spoke to the woman’s son about the situation, the man said he was upset that January was soon coming to an end and yet nothing had been done.

When Miss Babb was contacted, she reiterated that she was getting the lots debushed.

“I getting a guy to clear it. The people don’t know what going on, so they does get and talk whatever they like. Once it is to be done, it got to be done,” she said. (MB)
