Orange House dethroned Blue House to emerge champions at Good Shepherd’s Primary annual inter-house sports at the school’s St James grounds yesterday.
Spearheaded by victor ludorum Jayden Cummins and boasting four other divisional champions, Orange won comfortably, collecting 639.5 points to finish well clear of second-placed Green with 561.5 points. Blue were third on 555.
Cummins, competing in the Under-11 division, was the top boy with 48.5 points after winning the 100 metres, 200 metres, long jump and cricket ball throw, and placing second in the 300 metres. He narrowly edged out Green House’s Nadal Seale who earned 48 points in the Under-13 section through victories in the 200 and 400 and second places in the 800, long jump and cricket ball throw.
Green House, however, produced the victrix ludorum in Kiami-Rae Oxford, who gained 48 points among the Under-11s after achieving wins in the 100, 200, 300 and long jump.
Orange’s dominance was reflected by the capture of most of the divisional titles. Among the boys, Kaden Thornhill shared the Under-9 honours with Green House’s Aaron Harris − both finished with 40 points − while Risoroey Breete-Johnson took the Under-7 division with 20 points.
On the girls’ side, Orange’s divisional winners were Soweto Lorde, who took the Under-9 title with 44 points and Elaine Lynch, won captured the Under-7 category with 26 points.
Blue had the consolation of producing the girls’ Under-13 champion in Zorena Williams, who accumulated 40 points. (HG)
