Newly promoted Porey Spring inflicted a stunning 4-0 upset over last year’s double crown champions Weymouth Wales on the third night of the Barbados Football Association’s Williams Equipment Pre-Season Cup at Ellerton on Thursday.
Wales, playing without most of their leading players, conceded an early goal and never recovered against the St Thomas team.
Porey Spring’s victory was set up by a first-half hat-trick from Jomo Harewood, who netted in the 4th, 39th and 42nd minutes. Nicholas Griffith added the fourth goal in the 74th minute.
In the other game of the night, Paradise defeated Ellerton 3-2 in a thrilling affair.
With the scores locked at 2-2, Armando Lashley provided the winner for Paradise in the 88th minute.
Paradise scored first through Dario Harewood in the 14th minute before Shakille Belle equalised five minutes later. Belle gave Ellerton a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute before Paradise were back level in the 78th minute through Elijah Downey. (HG)
