Young and old fed up, says UPP candidate

It seems people are giving the thumbs up to the United Progressive Party’s (UPP) message.

That’s according to UPP candidate for St James South, Christal Austin, who yesterday said several constituents were open to the new party’s manifesto as they had grown fed up with the usual political set-up.

“There are people who are very apathetic to the existing parties and they see it as time that we do things differently, not just exchange from one party to the next, but bring in some new blood altogether,” Austin said, who will be going to the polls as a candidate for the first time.

“It’s not just the young people saying this. There are some very mature people who are frustrated. It has been encouraging the response we have got in the field,” she added.

Austin was speaking during her canvass at a master’s football match between Wadadah Football Club and Empire Club at the Melbourne Sports Club in Haynesville, St James.

She said the UPP team had done a lot of preparatory work in helping the new candidates understand the election cycle and they were aware and cognisant of what they needed to do. (AD)
