COACH RODDY ESTWICK is “far from disappointed” at being bypassed for the forthcoming ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe and delighted to be working with the West Indies “A” for the tour by England Lions.
“Disappointed, No. Looking forward to working with the West Indies “A” team; yes, I am a cricket coach and where I am asked to work, I will work. It might be a new challenge but it is not a disappointment. West Indies is bigger than everything and everybody else. I signed a contract to coach, not to decide where I should coach.
“I do not have a God-given right to decide where I should coach and whom I should coach,” Estwick said yesterday.
Estwick was ignored for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe slated for March 4-25. The 56-year-old, who joined the Caribbean side’s coaching staff 20 months ago, will be replaced by a coach from outside the region. (MK)
