Yellow House are well on their way to retaining Mount Tabor’s Inter-house Athletics Championship this year.
With their athletes setting the pace at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on Thursday, Yellow House were leading with 441 points, Blue collected 335 points, while Red were third with 274 points.
However, the final tally of points from field events that took place prior to their sports day was unavailable.
In the Under-13 Girls Division, Yellow’s Suriyah Young dominated the middle distance events, winning the 400 and 600 metres.
She was unable to take gold medals in the sprints, but held on for second place in both the 100 and 200 metres.
She was beaten out in those events by teammate Ashlee Phillips, who now holds bragging rights of being the fastest girl at the school.
Kymali Maynard also assisted in giving Yellow House the lead after winning the Under-13 Boys’ 100 and 400 metres, placing second in the 200 and third in the 800 metres open race.
Blue’s Kymanni Griffith beat Maynard in the 200 metres.
In the Under-11 Girls events, Jaysha Barnett, also of Yellow, ran away with wins in the 100 and 400 metres.
She took silver in the 200 metres when her teammate Dazaria Pollard clinched the victory.
Ramarco Reid of Blue won gold in the Under-11 Boys’ 200 metres, but was beaten out by Gabriel Lorde of Yellow House in the 100 dash.
Shania Bailey also gained points for Yellow when she sped to victory in the 80 and 150 metres.
Yellow House won five of six relays on the day. (RG)
