Seven points. That’s all it took for Red House to hold on to the Inter-House Sports Championship title at Workman’s Primary on Friday.
Held at the James E. Bryan Complex in Belair, St George, it was a keen contest between the two houses. At the end of the day, the defending champs Red House won with 1 356 points and Yellow House garnered 1 349 points.
It was great fun under blue skies as the athletes competed in events inclusive of the 80, 100, 200, and 400 metres, the 4×100 relays and novelty events.
Competing in the Under-9 division in the cricket ball throw, long jump, 80 metre, 100 metre and 150 metre races and placing fifth, sixth and first, respectively, Red House’s Jamacy Cox racked up 40 points to claim the victrix ludorum and Under-9 Girls’ division titles.
Yellow House’s Nathaniel Nurse copped the victor ludorum title with 56 points plus the Under-13 Boys’ division title after winning the long jump 800 metre, 400 metre, 200 metre and placing second in the 100 metre spint and cricket ball throw.
Red House also produced other divisional champions with Patricia Pryme winning the girls’ Under-3 division with 36 points, Kadasha Phillips capturing the Girls’ Under-11 section with 35 points and Ramone Cox taking the boys’ Under-7 division with 28 points.
Yellow’s divisional champions were Queshawn Smith who collected 44 points in the Boys’ Under-11 division; Imani Wood, who earned 46 points among the Girls’ Under-9 and Ranequa Marshall, who gained 24 points in the girls’ Under-7 section. (GBM)
