Chinese Government Scholarship on offer for 2018

Barbadians looking to study in China have the opportunity to do so through the Chinese Government Scholarship 2018.

China is providing full scholarships to the Barbados Government for students who wish to pursue either undergraduate or postgraduate degrees for the academic year beginning September 2018.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of Barbados and in good health. Those pursuing undergraduate studies must be under 25 years of age and possess a minimum of five CXC certificates – grades 1 or 2 – at general proficiency level. Applicants pursuing the Master’s degree must be under 35 years of age and hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least Lower Second Class honours, while applicants pursuing a Doctoral degree must be under 40 years of age and hold a Master’s degree.

Successful applicants must be willing to study the Chinese language for one to two years before pursuing their major studies. Additionally, they are expected to meet their own travel costs to and from China.

Interested persons should click “Application Online for International Students” and enter the following programme category: “Type A” and Agency number – 0521. 

Three copies of completed application forms and relevant documents, including the Foreign Physical Examination form and one copy of the applicant’s birth certificate, should be submitted to the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation no later than Monday, February 26.
